This is a LOW severity problem for most environments

Explanation

Some products have been detected without a completed description or shortname field. For each product defined in the system, there are at least two descriptions, "description" which is a general purpose longer description, and "shortname", which is an abbreviated form of product description, typically used on customer receipts (although many systems are configured to put description on customer receipts).

The Retail system requires both descriptions to be have values, otherwise blanks can be shown to customers and on internal reports, leading to confusion.

Action to take

Using the product editor, give each product both a descripton and shortname. If you do not know the product name, enter "Unknown product xxx". You should include description and shortname even if the product is deleted and no longer in use
